National Cadet Core
National Cadet Core (NCC) was raised in the college in 1964 with the name 32 UP NCC Bn Dhampur. It had two companies, one commanded by Capt BN Mathur and the other by Capt PS Santoshi.
After retirement of Capt PS Santoshi, Lieutenant LB Rawal took over the charge of NCC platoon in 1984. But after his election as Member of Parliament, he quit the post and Capt RS Chauhan took over the charge of NCC.
In the leadership of Capt Chauhan, the NCC has attained newer heights. In 1991, an NCC cadet Sumit Kumar Sehgal was selected for Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. In 1998 another cadet Om Prakash Saini was selected for National Integration Camp held at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In 2005, yet another cadet Sandeep Kumar was selected for National Integration Camp held in Nagaland.
The NCC cadets are playing multifarious roles. On February 9, 2007, a cycle expedition was held in which cadets went door-to-door with the motto of educating and creating awareness on issues like HIV/AIDS, dowry, polio, etc. On November 22, 2007, a traffic control rally was organised in which all the cadets helped in controlling the traffic for one day. On November 25, 2007, NCC Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Chairperson, Mrs Leena Singhal, was the Chief Guest and the Principal, Dr LB Rawal, was the president for the function. Many programmes were organised and they were highly appreciated by the Chief Guest.
Also in the year 2007, six girl cadets were selected for National Integration Camp - III at Jabalpur where 642 cadets from all the 17 directorates participated. NCC Dhampur got three prizes: one for Best Cadet (Cadet Latika Chamoli), one for Best Anchor (Cadet Latika Chamoli) and First Prize for debate Competition – Cadet Shilpshikha for speaking against the topic and Cadet Latika Chamoli for speaking for the topic, "The NCC is able in inspiring the youths for tomorrow".
And the mission is continuing.
